Best time to visit
Best Time to Visit Cancún
A purpose-built resort city on the Caribbean coast, known for its beaches, all-inclusive hotels, and easy access to Maya ruins. Most of its hotel zone was deliberately developed from the 1970s onward, distinct from the older town centre.
Best time to visit: December to April, in the dry season and outside the June–November hurricane season.
Local tip: Chichén Itzá and Tulum are both feasible day trips from Cancún — book an early departure to avoid the worst of the midday heat and crowds.
Getting around: The Hotel Zone has its own dedicated bus route running its length, and ferries connect to Isla Mujeres — a rental car is only needed for further day trips.
Good to know: Sargassum seaweed affects Caribbean beaches unpredictably by season and year — check current conditions if a specific beach is central to your plans.
