Best Time to Visit Abu Dhabi

The UAE's capital, a more spacious and formal counterpart to Dubai, built around grand mosques, museums, and a long corniche. It moves at a slightly slower, more official pace than its more commercially driven neighbour.

Best time to visit: November to March, avoiding the extreme heat of the summer months.

Local tip: Dress modestly when visiting the Grand Mosque — robes are available to borrow at the entrance if needed.

Getting around: Abu Dhabi is spread across several islands connected by bridges — a car or taxi is the most practical way to cover its main sights.

Good to know: The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is free to enter and one of the few working mosques in the region that welcomes non-Muslim visitors on a daily basis, outside prayer times.

What to plan your trip around

  • Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

One of the world's largest mosques, known for its white marble domes and vast prayer hall.

  • Louvre Abu Dhabi

An art and civilization museum built under a striking perforated dome.

  • Corniche Beach

A long, family-friendly beach along the city's waterfront promenade.

  • Qasr Al Watan

The UAE's presidential palace, with sections open to the public showcasing Arabian craftsmanship.
